KTR joins our other certification partners in certifying raw materials.
We’re pleased to share an important milestone in the COSMOS certification network: all 12 COSMOS-approved certification bodies now certify to both Scope 1 and Scope 2 of the COSMOS-standard.
Until recently, KTR (Korea Testing & Research Institute) was approved for Scope 1 certification only. Following a successful extension, KTR has now been approved for Scope 2 as well, joining the rest of the network in offering full certification across both scopes.
What does this mean?
This update ensures that brands, manufacturers, and raw material suppliers around the world can access comprehensive COSMOS certification through any of our authorised partners.
Scope 1 covers finished cosmetic products. COSMOS offers two signatures for cosmetic, beauty and skincare products. COSMOS ORGANIC or COSMOS NATURAL will always appear right below the logo/mark of the responsible certifier or association, so consumers will be able to recognise known and trusted associations and certifiers.
Scope 2 covers raw materials and ingredients. A further two signatures for raw materials are available, COSMOS CERTIFIED or COSMOS APPROVED. As with products, the respective signatures always appear right below the logo/mark of the responsible certifier or association.
With each of the 12 certification bodies now accredited for both scopes, COSMOS continues to strengthen its global reach and harmonised approach—making it simpler and more consistent for companies to certify products and ingredients to trusted, internationally recognised standards.

The COSMOS network spans over 56,000 products and ingredients across 80 countries worldwide. This new milestone reflects our shared commitment to transparency, accessibility, and continuous improvement in the certification process.
By aligning all certification bodies under both scopes, we’re reinforcing our mission: to make natural and organic cosmetics credible, verifiable, and accessible across markets.
